Birmingham, AL - On the heels of Medicare's new payment plan for intraocular lenses (IOL), Integrated Medical Systems International, Inc. (IMS), a Birmingham, Alabama-based medical services company, offers a software solution that provides healthcare facilities the answer for automating the management and tracking of their IOL implant inventories.
ImplantMotion® - a web-based barcode technology software - provides hospitals and surgery centers an efficient - and JCAHO compliant - way to manage bar-coded implant products such as IOLs, tissue and bone.
The tissue or bone item is tracked by laser scanning the package barcode. The system documents the item's movements throughout its lifecycle from receipt to final disposition.
The software monitors inventory par levels and provides reporting tools to indicate when additional items need to be ordered. Implant expiration dates are entered and automatically sorted to ensure that items are used in a "first in - first out" method to reduce losses through tissue expiration.
ImplantMotion® allows healthcare facilities to comply with tissue management standards (PC 17.10, 17.20 and 17.30) mandated by the Joint Commission on Accrediting Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) in July 2006.
