New IMS Agreement Offers Premier Members
On-Site Reprocessing, Sterilization

Under a new contract with Premier Purchasing Partners, L.P., IMS is offering Premier members on-site reprocessing and sterilization of trays, along with new capital equipment.

"There's nothing worse than having the patient on the table, only to find out the instruments aren't ready," said Sharon Hadley, BSN, RN, CNOR, CSPDN, CHL, Clinical OR Director for IMS. "We train our personnel to efficiently reprocess the most delicate equipment. When you prevent instrument failure and delays, you improve not only quality of care but morale in the OR."

The agreement, which went into effect Jan. 1, 2011, also includes a new-equipment program that is vendor-neutral. "This means equipment selection can be based on surgeon preference, regardless of make or brand," Hadley said.
