IMS CEO Recognized as "Healthcare Hero"

Gene Robinson, CEO of IMS, was named a finalist for the Birmingham Business Journal's annual Healthcare Heroes award. In an article published on Oct. 16, 2009, the newspaper cited Robinson's use of IMS' business focus - refurbishing surgical instruments - to aid the needy. "He is obviously a very bright businessman, but he is also somebody who is led by compassion," said Gary Stephens, an executive with Mercy Ships. Mercy Ships, whose hospital ship treats the medically underserved in Africa, is one of the organizations that has benefited from Instruments of Mercy, a charity Robinson founded. Using the resources of IMS, Instruments of Mercy has restored surgical instruments for 31 medical mission teams operating in 20 countries.
