Incoming Inspection

Explain the process you employ to evaluate the condition of a device.

IMS performs a comprehensive evaluation of every device received at our repair facility. The following criteria are part of the evaluation for incoming rigid endoscopes:

Items tested at the Optical BenchOptical bench

  • Field of view
  • Angle of view
  • Angle of view to bore (mechanical axis)
  • Illumination view angle
  • Overlapping of illumination and field of view

Items tested using a Diopter TelescopeDiopter Telescope

  • Magnification
  • Depth of view

Items tested using 1956 U.S. Air Force Resolution Targets or customized IMS TargetsResolution target

  • Resolution

Items tested using a Light Meter / Ulbricht SphereUlbricht Sphere

  • Light transmission efficiency of the fibers and optical system

Items tested using a microscopeMicroscope

  • Observation of mechanical defects to include optics - visual inspection
